Going Home...

It’s been a while, mmm...??? Certainly, apologies are in order for what would otherwise seem laziness. However, this hasn’t been the case – no, not really.

I’ve returned home to my real roots: Connecticut.
It’s the home of my forefathers and more importantly, the home of my immediate family. (Click here for a little more on this.) Sure, the tundra was nice in many ways. Yet, with exception of friends and a backyard view, I’ve not been very “homesick” for central New York. I suppose it’s the distractions of being home now – the fam, the job, and of course the elation I experience with every drive down every back road around me. I’m working, and facing less of a struggle – another factor in returning. Happy is good!

Now, at the risk of not digressing any further into my “silly little sid-world” much longer, allow me to move forward here with what’s happening, kay?

For starters, records accumulation has grown substantially. Would you expect anything less from a genealogical packrat? * ha! * I’ve filled in some very large gaps within Henry McOrmond’s lifetime, having acquired much information on Maria, Lena, his son, Frank Neally McOrmond… hey! Does anyone remember George McOrmond? Yes, I’ve got him, too. Some great stories there. See for yourself by clicking here.

The gaps and brick-walls for many others have been closed, too. Moving up one generation to James, I’ve filled in some gaps for Sarah McOrmond-Fowler’s clan, son James, and a personal favorite, * heh-heh!* Robert. I’ve had a lot of fun flashing his DOD Cert procured from New York City, reminding those who’ve seen it that I’m really not dead, at all. So, by the time of the winter thaw, I’ll have at last gone to final resting place of the only McOrmond gravesite (to my knowledge) in the United States I’ve not seen. One hundred years to the day of his burial, that’s where I’ll be!

Now research doesn’t end here, of course – but I must acquiesce to time and press forward. Finally, I believe I’ve enough to go back even further. Delving into our Irish roots proves to be a little more time consuming and difficult – yet, I know it can be done! Although many of the vital records have been lost for years, there are many places to procure other wonderful tidbits regarding out roots. I’m on the way!

There has also been an extensive bit of work done in organizing the information procured. I’ve developed my own database with the hopes of passing info on a little easier.
The details can be found by clicking here.

   So, that’s the latest.

Where things are going...

Book is done - CD's are done... So, what's next?

"The McOrmond Movie" - of course! Yeah.... the self proclaimed whacko from the lower Naugatuck Valley is embarking on an movie making experience - of the DVD kind... Imagine that? Seeing the history of our family on the -big-uhh, actually....TV screen. But yes - that's the new thing. I have the resources to now do this. And it doesn't appear to be so impossible. I'll take some photos and clips of existing info - add the new stuff and commentary from folks - then toss everything on the hard drive. I figure after a little shaking here and there, something decent is bound to come out. And you don't have to deal with my typos, either!

Of course this momentous escapade won't be seen at the Golden Globe Awards or (especially) Cannes, France - but it should make for a neat little documentary-type-keepsake. Imagine this: A guided tour through the home (built before the turn of the past century) of James and Mary McOrmond - (both born 1819). ...or....Case Histories of Prosecuting Attorney Arthur McOrmond. or....The Adventures of Fifi - walking the campus of Westminster School, where Raymond Richards was Headmaster for many years.... and more! I might even throw in a cemetery or three.... what the heck? I've been to so many... :-)

Can you dig it, though? "TGP-The DVD" Ha! And you thought I'd forgotten all about those movie clips, I've had.... * tsk-tsk! * As usual, I'll be in touch with the details...

Last of News

As I've said, the keyword is: "Busy" That should tell you much of the story. However, The books are done and DNA testing is done. For the newer eyes to these pages - I have obtained the results of the DNA Testing from our Y-chromosome Genetic Profile. Really. Genetic proof of who we are. The "generic genetics page" can be found here.

As per request: Old news found by clicking here.

TGP Book...

About the Book (and CD)...

Completed Christmas 2004, an honest-to-goodness, book to hold in your hands. The cover and binder work was OK, but not as well as I'd wished - I wanted embossed... :-) However, I'm told it came out nicely.  Please click here for an explanation from the FAQ. The CD's are also available on request....I have a few left.

I didn't really take a fondness in nagging folks. As I've said so often before, "If you sent it, I would print it...if you didn't, I wouldn't..." - No nagging from me!

For anyone interested, I do have some excerpts from the CD here on the site (along with updates). Click here to see those.

A Few Last Remaining Thoughts From the No-Longer-Nag-of-the-North...

Yes, I'm bit more low-key, these days - yet, the work is still getting done. Thanks ancestors for passing on the diligence! So, if you haven't been bugged lately - don't be offended. Like many of you, I have full plate! I haven't forgotten ya's...

Save your money! If you're being solicited in any way for YOUR Family History, you're looking in the wrong places! Our McOrmond Family is spread out everywhere - there are adequate resources where you shouldn't have to spend one cent...starting right here. Just click here to mail me.

If you have received anything from me requiring my attention, i.e., nonfunctioning CD, or the like (Hey! It's happened, OK? I'm not perfect...) - Please let me know. I'll be happy to hook up with you and correct the situation...

Spring is here! For me, at home in a new home, back home. And there is so much joy to be found with family. Take a moment and maybe a few cents to call someone and tell them you're thinking of them. Or even better, that you love them! Spend quality time with clan and enjoy our family!

Stay well!
Blessings from above and blue skies yours!
